FAQs
What is a community facility?
For the purposes of this survey, a community facility is any facility (including buildings, playing surfaces or open spaces) located upon Council owned or managed land that is used under a lease agreement with a club, community group or organisation.
What community facilities will and won't be included?
Community facilities that are vacant or leased or licenced to sporting clubs, community groups, service groups and not-for-profit organisations will be considered within this survey. Commercial specialised facilities such as fuel infrastructure will not be included.
Will this work impact my current lease agreement?
This work will provide Council with a holistic overview of our community facilities in Port MacDonnell and will have no impact on existing tenancy arrangements, including those in overholding. Feedback provided through the survey will be used as an important tool in shaping Council’s future strategic direction of Council facilities in Port MacDonnell. Any requested or recommended changes would be discussed with impacted tenants before a final recommendation is made.
Will there be disruptions to normal business operations?
There should be no disruptions to existing users or lease agreements, as this process is about collecting information and making a plan for the ongoing use and capacity of Council facilities.
Will tenants retain exclusive spaces?
Until Council has received feedback we are unable to provide a definitive answer, however long-term high usage clubs and services are unlikely to experience any changes to their ongoing single user spaces.
What types of activities will be permitted?
That is the exciting part - Council is open to considering any and all options for future use. This includes maintaining the existing use agreements, but also any fresh ideas for how we could be making our facilities more accessible, useable and activating our spaces for better community utilisation.
My Club/Organisation leases a community facility elsewhere in the district - can we provide feedback?
Yes, however this consultation is only looking at agreements and use of facilities within Port MacDonnell. Other townships are currently out of scope at this stage, but will have opportunities to share their feedback further in the project.
If you would like to discuss the conditions of your current lease of a community facility, please contact Council's Governance team.
